WHAT DOES CLOUD OR SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE (SAAS) MEAN

Using software in a cloud environment involves using software as a service, every aspect of its implementation is made available by the supplier who provides the servers, the licences, systems management, performance tuning, application management, etc., all covered by a single subscription fee.
This method of utilizing software is now possible because of the advancement of web technologies and the specific design of new applications that can optimize data traffic, usability, and security while continuously improving the functionality of the service offered.

EcosAgile is also one of the few solutions available that provide customization options in the Cloud environment; it is not a "package suite", but a broad platform capable of implementing customizations and ad hoc processes.
Cloud services or SaaS is about focusing on the needs of the client and is able to dramatically reduce the Total Cost of Ownership.
All of the EcosAgile products and services are designed for full functionality in the Cloud environment without any restrictions. The performance, security, and underlying features have all been carefully designed to reap the benefits. EcosAgile Data Center is located in Italy at BT ITALIA S.p.A. whose information security management system is certified according to the international standard ISO 27001.

We are, however, well aware that choosing Cloud solutions is not always possible, even in light of the significant benefits these may hold; for this reason, EcosAgile is also available for use under licence agreements, with the software installed at the DataCenter of the client (on-Premise mode).

Cloud VS on-Premise

The Cloud mode is particularly advantageous for clients who have not yet made significant DataCenter investments and/or do not wish to go about procuring the skills to manage their applications.

The circumstances in which it may be preferable to adopt the on-Premise (user licence) mode include:

  • CUSTOMERS WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF SYSTEMS AND INTEGRATIONS TO AND FROM ECOSAGILE
    EcosAgile allows data to be uploaded by the user and provides a configurable integration layer which is perfectly applicable even over the Cloud system; for scenarios, however, where EcosAgile aggregates data in complex and/or heterogeneous application environments, it may be preferable to have the systems on the one network, i.e., on the DataCenter under a user licence agreement (see solution details).
  • PARTNERS WHO USE ECOSAGILE AS A PLATFORM FOR PROVIDING OUTSOURCING SERVICES
    EcosAgile is a platform which is optimized for the provision of "Business to Business" services, including those customized by service centers or associations for their customers (see solution details) in these cases, the centers can install their own on-Premise EcosAgile licence version and provide outsourcing services to their customers for a fee.

EcosAgile on the Cloud is, on the other hand, preferable in all of the cases where companies take advantage of one of the following circumstances:

  • NO INVESTMENT
    The Cloud service fee includes everything needed to use the service and thus does not require any kind of further investment; the client does not have to make any purchases or pay for any licences, database software, operating systems, nor are there any extra fees for the EcosAgile application, its installation, or server usage.
  • FREQUENT UPGRADES AND UPDATES
    Regular improvements and statutory compliance updates at no charge to the client, who is always provided with the latest and best version available.
  • ONLY PAY FOR THE FUNCTIONS USED
    The functions selected by the client can be activated and used on demand and can just as easily be deactivated without any charge; clients can try EcosAgile modules and functions without incurring any risks, obligations or charges while determining whether a particular feature could be worthwhile to the company.
  • AN ALL-INCLUSIVE RATE COVERS ALL THE COSTS
    The fee covers regular release updates, backup services, patches, etc., and is based on the number of employees managed and the modules activated.

The management of the application through Cloud frees the company from all of the instrumental issues associated with ensuring the service; essentially freeing company resources and energies to concentrate more on primary business concerns and facilitating quick and efficient decision-making based on a service that is always active, secure and updated.

Neither Cloud nor on-Premise modes require any manipulation of users’ computers, as EcosAgile is 100% web based and is accessed through browsers in total security without any special skills or equipment required.
