What is a digital signature?
Digital Signature is a tool to simplify and speed up the processes of sending and validating documents through digital technologies. It is also useful for optimizing decision-making processes.
Digital signatures offer numerous benefits, such as the authenticity of the document or message by ensuring the unique association of the signature with the person who created it, theintegrity of the document and its legal validity.
HOW A DIGITAL SIGNATURE WORKS
An electronic signature is the result of a computer process called "validation".
The signature is generated by a pair of asymmetric digital keys that are uniquely assigned to an individual, known as the owner. The private key, known only to the holder, is used to generate the digital signature to be applied to the document, while the public key is ised to verify the authenticity of the signature.
This validation process guarantees the authenticity, integrity and non repudiation of computer documents.
DIGITAL SIGNATURE NOT BE CONFUSED WITH REM
REM is a special type of email that allows you to send and receive text messages and attachments with the same legal value as a certified letter.
A digital signature, on the other hand, is the electronic equivalent of a handwritten signature, and its primary function is to ensure the authenticity of the electronic document.
Unlike the digital signature, which guarantees the authenticity of the document, certifies that it has not been tampered with and confirms the identity of the signer, the REM guarantees the ownership of the sender's box bu ensuring the legal value of the communication.
AREAS OF USE FOR DIGITAL SIGNATURE
The applications of digital signatures are wide, both in terms of the types of documents, from contracts to declarations, to public and private administrative acts, and in terms of the possibility of using different types of digital signatures: simple, advanced, qualified.
The most effective area of use is the integration of digital signatures within Document Management and Document Systems, solutions increasingly adopted by companies that want to promote the process of dematerialization of documents by giving a boost to digitization.
